Pauline Hanson – One Nation Party

A Heartfelt Gesture from a Tough Politician

One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson, known for her strong stance on various political issues, has recently demonstrated a different side of her character. In a surprising act of kindness, Hanson has committed to personally funding a crucial surgical operation for the nine-year-old daughter of a working Queensland mother.

Act of Kindness for Kadee Byrnes

Kahlia Byrnes, the mother of Kadee, has been struggling with her daughter’s chronic tonsillitis, which has left the young girl in distress. The Byrnes family had faced a long wait of seven years for the procedure at a public hospital. During a public event near Yeppoon in Central Queensland, Hanson, moved by the situation, offered to cover the entire cost of a private operation.

Hanson’s Reaction to the Delay

Hanson expressed her frustration with the extensive wait times. “I was disgusted to hear about the delay,” she said. At the event, she made her decision clear to the media and personally assured Ms. Byrnes, “Straight away I said, we’re going to get this operation done.” She also informed Ms. Byrnes directly, “Kahlia, you don’t know, I’m paying for it. It’s not right.”

A Grateful Response from the Byrnes Family

Ms. Byrnes, overwhelmed by Hanson’s generosity, expressed her gratitude. “I just want her (Kadee) to have the surgery so she stops being sick all the time,” Byrnes said. She described her daughter’s frequent illnesses as distressing, and looked forward to a future where Kadee could live a normal life. “I’m very happy that it is going to end this way and that she is finally going to have a surgery and she is going to be able to live a life as a normal nine-year-old,” she added.

Blame and Acknowledgment

Hanson criticized the Queensland Labor government for the prolonged wait times in the public health system. In response, Lisa Blackler, Chief Executive of Central Queensland Health and Hospital Service, acknowledged the difficulties faced by families waiting for healthcare. “The longest category 2 patient waiting for ENT surgery at Rockhampton Hospital is currently 249 days,” she stated.

This generous act by Hanson highlights a compassionate side to her public persona, while also drawing attention to ongoing issues within the healthcare system.
