A passenger train has derailed on the T1 North and West Coast line in Sydney, causing chaos for commuters.
Transport for NSW has confirmed the incident happened at Clarendon station near Richmond amid commuter chaos into the city.
Transport for NSW said the train was heading into the city centre when it came off the track.
No one was injured in the incident.
“The cause will be determined during the investigation,” it said in a statement.
“As with any incident involving carriages such as this, and in line with current processes, Eddie Downer Sydney Trains [the company responsible for maintaining the carriages] is formally investigating.”
Only the front carriage of the train came off the track, causing it to come to a sudden stop.
Replacement buses ran throughout the day until the train was put back on the track at 5pm.
The incident came at the height of a strike by rail unions, which has seen up to 2,000 services cancelled.
