Melbourne Police have charged four people, one of them aged 13, after they were found trying to escape from a stolen vehicle.
The incident happened in Springvale, where four men were reported to be inside a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on the Princes Highway at around 8pm.
Police responded quickly to the reports and surrounded a silver Nissan X-Trail.
When the vehicle was surrounded, the driver reversed quickly and hit a police car behind him, then drove forward and hit a second police car.
Three people were removed from the stolen vehicle and arrested at the scene, while the fourth man attempted to flee.
Police pursued him and arrested him in a nearby backyard after a short chase.
Initial investigations indicate the stolen Nissan had been taken from a home in Clyde North several days before the incident.
It is believed the group had used the vehicle for illegal purposes before it was discovered in Springvale.
Three teenagers, aged 13, 14 and 16, have been charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
They have been bailed to appear in Youth Court at a later date.
A fourth, aged 21, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and has also been bailed to appear in Dandenong Magistrates Court on April 30.
Despite the collision with two police vehicles, no injuries were reported to officers or defendants.
Police responded to the incident professionally and quickly, resulting in all those involved being arrested without any serious injury.
