Apartment building evacuated after another Melbourne tobacco store targeted by arsonists
An apartment building in Melbourne’s south-east was evacuated this morning after another tobacco store was targeted by arsonists.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Glenhuntly Road in Caulfield after receiving reports of a blaze about 2.30am.
Police believe a group of offenders reversed a stolen vehicle into the front window before setting the shop alight and fleeing the scene in another waiting vehicle.
Nobody was physically injured during the incident, but the store and an apartment above were significantly damaged.
Investigators are treating the fire as a targeted attack and will look at any possible links to other recent tobacco store fires.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the fire or who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage
