A horror crash which left a man with multiple injuries forced the closure of South West Highway in Cardup for hours on Saturday morning.

Its believed the 20-year-old man was the sole occupant of a silver Holden Commodore sedan which ploughed into a tree near Kiln Road at 6.30am.

The RAC rescue helicopter was sent to the scene to transfer the man to hospital, however police believe his injuries are not life-threatening.

His family has been notified of the crash.
